Oversikt over vinnerne av Edgar-prisen 1946-2006

Edgar-prisen, eller "The Edgar Allan Poe Awards", som er dens fulle navn, ble innført av foreningen The Mystery Writers of America i 1945. Prisen har og har hatt en rekke forskjellige kategorier, og fra 1946 av ble det utdelt en Edgar-pris for "Best First Novel" (Beste debutroman). Kategorien "Best novel" ble først innført i 1954. Året etter ble tittelen "Grand Master" introdusert, en æresbevisning gitt til forfattere som fortjener en spesiell heder. Fra og med 1971 ble det også utdelt en Edgar-pris for "Best paperback original".
